Happy Shiba, Creating 246 Pallet Spaces with a Cost Effective Used Racking System
When Happy Shiba needed to equip a larger warehouse, Toddsleap Racking & Shelving Were on hand to design, supply and install a cost effective pallet racking storage solution.
that delivered the storage capacity they needed while preserving budget for other warehouse equipment.
The completed installation provided 246 pallet spaces within a 382 square metre warehouse, alongside dedicated areas for despatch and electric forklift charging.
Supporting a growing business
Happy Shiba specialises in bubble tea, importing products from Asia for retail across the UK and Ireland. The business also operates in the high street franchise market through HEYBOBA, with bubble tea cafés located around Northern Ireland.
Growing demand led the company to relocate to larger warehouse premises near Saintfield. Managing Director Melvin Yeung approached Toddsleap in late 2025 to help turn the vacant building into a practical storage facility.
The brief, maximise storage while keeping the warehouse workable
Melvin wanted to achieve as much pallet storage as possible within the available space, while allowing a forklift to operate safely.
The layout also needed to accommodate everyday warehouse activities. Stock storage had to work alongside despatch, goods movement and a designated charging area for the electric forklift.
Steve King met Melvin on site to understand these requirements and develop a layout around the building and the way Happy Shiba intended to use it. The design was refined through discussion, allowing changes to be considered before installation.
Why used racking was the right fit
For Happy Shiba, used pallet racking offered a more timely and cost effective solution that suited both the project requirements and the available budget.
Using available used equipment helped meet the installation timescale while reducing expenditure on the racking system. This left Melvin with more budget for other equipment needed to get the new warehouse operating.
The approach combined the financial benefits of used equipment with a layout designed specifically for Happy Shiba, supplied and fitted by the Toddsleap team.
The solution, 246 pallet spaces and dedicated working areas
The final design provided 246 pallet spaces within the 382 square metre building, together with a designated despatch area and a separate area for forklift charging.
Toddsleap managed the design, supply and installation, giving Melvin a consistent point of contact throughout the project.
Installation was completed on time. When a small number of amendments were needed afterwards, Steve responded promptly to resolve them and ensure the finished arrangement suited the customer’s needs.
Support beyond installation
Following completion, Steve stayed in contact with Melvin and helped address an ongoing concern with the quality of pallets arriving from suppliers by providing pallet support bars.
That continued support was an important part of the customer’s experience, with assistance available as the warehouse moved into everyday use.
What the customer said
Melvin Yeung, Managing Director of Happy Shiba, commented:
“From the moment I contacted Todds Leap, I found them to be responsive and consultative in their approach. Todds Leap representative Steve King met me on site and listened to my needs for our storage. He was able to translate this into a workable solution, and guided me as we made changes to our initial design. The installation went very smoothly and was delivered on time. A few amendments were required after installation, and Steve was immediate in his resolution of these changes.”
“After the project completed, Steve kept in touch and has assisted with solving an ongoing issue with our suppliers’ poor quality pallets by providing pallet support bars. I would be happy to recommend Steve and the Todds Leap team to anyone that has storage requirements.”
A practical result with room in the budget
Happy Shiba gained a warehouse layout designed around its storage and operational requirements, with 246 pallet spaces, dedicated working areas and installation delivered on time.
Choosing used racking helped the business equip its new premises more economically and within the required timescale, while keeping funds available for other warehouse equipment.
